Access to Education

You can help low-income students get to Ohio State.

Faculty and staff are valuable role models for students who want to go to college. The Economic Access Initiative wants you to help us spread the word that whatever students' financial circumstances, college is within their reach.

What you can do:

  • Talk to young students. As early as fourth grade, students and their families are thinking about college. The Economic Access Initiative's "Make College Happen" series offers information for students from in grades 4 through 10. (You must fill out a brief information form to access the downloads.)
  • Host a campus visit.  Many colleges and departments host groups of low-income and first generation young people in order to introduce them to a certain field. We suggest you include college planning information in the visit as well as a group tour of campus.  Email accesstours@osu.edu for more information.
  • Tell your story. If you're a first-generation college graduate, we want to hear how you got to — and through — college. Tell us about your path to a college education. (We'll get your permission before we share your story.)
