OSU Spring Commencement 2004
Spring Commencement

Erin Moriarty, award-winning CBS correspondent and two-time graduate of Ohio State, addressed the university's newest alumni at spring commencement on June 13. The graduates were among a class of 7,225 who received diplomas this quarter — the largest class in university history. The ceremony also marked the first Sunday graduation in Ohio Stadium since 1943. Four individuals were honored for their contributions to society and academics, and their dedication to the university. An honorary doctorate was presented to David W. Harvey, an internationally recognized geographer and social scientist. Distinguished Service Awards were presented to: Frank E. Bazler, an enthusiastic supporter of his alma mater for more than half a century; Virginia Hutchison Bazler, who with her husband, Frank, has served her alma mater in many ways; and Manuel Tzagournis, vice president for health sciences and dean of medicine and public health emeritus at Ohio State.
