A flower garden outside the south end of Ohio Stadium takes on an artistic aspect when seen from Morrill Tower. A university photographer has been scouting such vantage points around our Columbus campus to provide a unique look at the university. The October issue of the Ohio State Alumni Magazine will feature a variety of these photographs and perspectives. Police to enforce alcohol laws on game days
Lower than expected levels of state funding led Ohio State’s
Board of Trustees to adopt a new tuition plan for undergraduates
that is different from what the board initially approved in late
spring. The state budget that was passed by the Ohio General Assembly
and signed by Gov. Bob Taft this summer supports higher education
significantly less than originally had been proposed by the governor
in February and the Senate in May. The state’s share of instruction
is lower now than it was four years ago. But recognizing the university’s
financial needs at the Columbus campus, the state’s In an
effort to improve the safety and enjoyment of all who attend Buckeye
football games, university and city police will be enforcing state
laws related to open containers of alcohol, underage drinking and
public decency both on campus and on Lane Avenue. The move is the
result of discussions between Ohio State and city of Columbus officials
about the need to reduce the problems associated with the behavior
of those who become publicly intoxicated before, during and after
football games. In recent years, the excessive consumption of alcohol
on football Saturdays has contributed to an unsafe and sometimes
threatening environment for fans and visitors to Columbus. READ

reaching Ohio Stadium this season. Throughout the area, both on
and off campus, motorists can expect delays and reduced parking
availability. On campus, there are several buildings undergoing
construction, renovation or replacement. Parking lots that usually
accommodate football fans are filled with construction equipment,
which consumes or reduces the space available for game parking.
A color-coded parking map is available online. READ
