Undergraduate research, which may someday translate into the products and technology we'll see in the future was on display earlier this year at Ohio State's annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. It was a first-hand look at some of the bold research being conducted by undergraduates on campus. Well, it's one of the great benefits that we can offer that many other universities can't offer and it's one that's gotten bigger and bigger and more and more important at this university over the years. All you really have to do is walk around this forum and see what the benefits are. First of all, you've got students very engaged, engaged with our faculty, engaged in discovery and seeing the excitement of doing some real research, of presenting things absolutely beautifully. The work in there is just as professional as anybody could possibly be. I think that this is what we're striving to do, obviously, is to get as many students involved in undergraduates research, the awareness of it, so that they can go on to graduate school, they can go into the professional schools, and more importantly, they can make a contribution to society. It really adds a dimension to learning that one can't possibly do in a classroom and the connection between faculty, the connection among students, the networks that are developed as a result of it, just the skills that really sets them up for the rest of their lives. It's a wonderful experience. It's exploration without limits. An opportunity only available at a comprehensive research institution like Ohio State.
