Fisher MBAs gain real-world experienceMBA students at Ohio State's Fisher College of Business are gaining real-world experience in Professor Walter Zinn's Logistics courses. Teams of students devise solutions — much like consultants would — to complex problems facing Central Ohio businesses. In one example, Fisher students devised a plan which was implemented by shoe retailer DSW. By decentralizing their cardboard box suppliers, the company estimates it will save nearly a half million dollars. Through this and similar courses at the Fisher College, students gain the opportunity to use skills learned in class to solve actual existing problems facing the business community. This involves not only the problem solving tool, but also working in teams, dealing with different people at the client organization. It's a valuable confidence booster for students and an opportunity to show a concrete achievement to potential employers upon graduation. Related Links:
