Do Something Great
 Craig Krenzel
Senior, Molecular Genetics

Cool, calm, and collected Ohio State Buckeye Craig Krenzel is as focused in the academic arena as he is on the football field. The quarterback of the national championship football team and Fiesta Bowl most valuable player for the offense is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, a second-team Academic All-American, and a finalist for this year's Socrates Award, which recognizes excellence in academics and athletics. The fourth-year molecular genetics major says he takes his studies seriously, recognizing that his classes are the training camp for his ultimate goal -- to become a physician.

Off the field, Krenzel said visits to the James Cancer Hospital have helped put life as a student-athlete into perspective. He is inspired by visiting patients who are fighting for their life, and said the patients' determination makes the struggles of being a student-athlete small by comparison. During the off-season, Krenzel will begin shadowing physicians to determine which field of medicine he would like to pursue. Ohio State offers students everything needed to achieve their goals, Krenzel said, but it is up to individuals to take advantage of available opportunities.
