Seventh Annual John C. Burnham Lecture The Ohio State University (OSU) Department of History and the OSU Medical Heritage Center are proud to announce the seventh annual John C. Burnham Lecture in the History of Medicine/Science featuring Harry M. Marks, PhD, who will speak on the topic, ÒWhat Does the FDA Do? Regulations, Drug Markets and Medical Practice, 1906-2009Ó The lecture is slated for Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at Medical Heritage Center, located on the 5th floor of Prior Health Sciences Library, 376 West 10th Avenue, Columbus, OH. A reception will precede the lecture at 4pm. Marks is currently Associate Professor, Elizabeth Treide Harvey and A. McGehee Harvey Professorship in the History of Medicine, Institute of the History of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his primary appointment in the School of Medicine, he holds adjunct appointments in Epidemiology (Bloomberg School of Public Health), in History, and in Anthropology (Krieger School of Arts and Sciences). A graduate of Hofstra University (1968), he received an MA in European History from the University of Wisconsin (1972) and a PhD in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1987). Prior to arriving at Hopkins, he was a researcher and lecturer at the Harvard Schools of Public Health and of Medicine. |
