Speedy, one of the great comedies of the silent era, sees Harold Lloyd trying to save the last horse-drawn streetcar in New York. Full of fast-paced scenes of New York City street life in the late 1920s, the film literally races from one scene to the nextÑincluding a memorable excursions to the whirlwind amusement rides at Coney Island and Yankee Stadium (where Lloyd chauffeurs Babe Ruth, in an extended cameo). A breakneck (and side-splitting) portrait of modern life, Speedy offers a great introduction to the charms of Harold Lloyd and silent film in general.
