OSU Behavioral Health’s STAR Program will host Michael Berman, MD, for a community forum titled, “Sharing Loss and Hope: A Physician’s Approach to Providing Care to Parents Experiencing the Loss of a Child” on Tuesday, October 8 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. at the Longaberger Alumni House in the Sanders Grand Lounge.
Dr. Berman, a graduate of New York Medical College and clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Yale University School of Medicine, also founded County Obstetrics and Gynecology Group. Formerly, he served as senior attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 39 years and left to join the faculty of the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York as the medical director of Labor and Delivery.
In 1996, Dr. Berman founded the Hygeia Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring interactive information with regards to maternal and child health and facilitate access to these services. His first book, Parenthood Lost: Healing the Pain After Miscarriage, Stillbirth and Infant Death was published in January 2001.
