Forget that it's winter outside nad have a tropical Valentine's Day full of music and passion from one of the most exciting moments in Brazil's musical history. Brazil's music "festivals" of the mid-1960s were televisied competitions that launched the careers of countless Musica Popular Brasileira artists nad were raucous affairs known for their voal and partisan audiences. The boos and cheers were espeicllay loud during the 1967 event, which, in one night, created a revolution that forever changed Brazilian - and eventually - world music. With captivating performances and archival footage interspersed with contemporary interviews from they key players, this film essentially documents the night that the still-forming tropicalia movement was introduced to the public. The evening starts with a short film Tim Maia. Recently voted the greatest Brazilian vocalist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, the late Tim Maia was not only a smooth soul singer but a larger-than-life character on and off the stage. This film offers a charming look at Maia in his home, recording in his studio, and performing on stage. (14 mins.)
