Event: Afro-Swedish Public Culture Symposium with guest artists Sousou and Maher Cissoko
The "world music" of Sousou and Maher Cissoko combines Swedish popular and folk traditions with cosmopolitan influences of hip-hop, reggae and Afropop. The charismatic duo joins Assistant Professors Ryan Skinner for a three-day symposium exploring the music, culture, and politics of race and identity in contemporary Sweden. Co-sponsored by Performance/Politics Working Group (Humanities Institute), Department of African American and African Studies, and other organizations at Ohio State.
