Old and new: Spring at Ohio State
![]() |
Ask Ohio State graduates about their best times at the university, and they're likely to start sharing memories of spring quarter.
Spring quarter at Ohio State is the perfect mix of fun relaxation (sunbathing and frisbee-throwing on the sunny Oval, anyone?) and longstanding university traditions such as May Week and the Denman Forum.
Whatever you're interested in--from marching to raise awareness about domestic violence to catching a movie on the South Oval--it's going on at Ohio State this spring.
If you're looking for something to do, check out Ohio State's events calendar.
In the meantime, here are some of the highlights:
- The African American Heritage Festival. From April 30 to May 6, you can immerse yourself in African American culture with everything from a gospel music festival to a kick-off with food and vendors.
- Free outdoor music, including the Big Free Concert featuring Jurassic 5 (May 13).
- The Friends of the Libraries book sale (May 4 and 5).
- Research forums, from Honors & Scholars' annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum (May 17) to the new College of Mathematical and Physical Science forum (May 10).
- Lectures, including the "The Marshes of Iraq" (May 11).
- And, to wrap it all up, spring commencement in the Horseshoe, featuring Senator John McCain.
