One of them--No Time for Nuts--has strong ties to Ohio State.

The 7-minute short was created by Blue Sky Studios Inc., which was founded by Chris Wedge, and was produced by John Donkin. Wedge also served as executive producer. Both Wedge (1985) and Donkin (1986) received their master's degrees in art education from Ohio State after studying at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts & Design (ACCAD).

Shown before Ice Age 2, No Time for Nuts follows Scrat, the squirrel from Ice Age, as he inadvertently uncovers and activates a time machine while trying to bury a nut. Scrat zips through time chasing the nut, stopping in front of Michelangelo's David, in the foreground of the H-bomb induced mushroom cloud, and in a guillotine during the French Revolution.

“John and Chris's success is a great example to the students currently studying at ACCAD.”
— ACCAD Director Maria Palazzi

Donkin and Wedge have worked together on Ice Age and Robots. Wedge, who gives Scrat his voice, already is an Oscar winner for his 1998 animated short, Bunny.

"John and Chris's success is a great example to the students currently studying at ACCAD," says Maria Palazzi, the center's director. "Seeing work by our alumni nominated for high artistic honors, such as an Oscar, is exciting for all of us."
