Honorary Doctorates: Honorary doctorates were presented to commencement speaker David O. Frantz, professor emeritus of English and respected administrator; and Lino Tagliapietra, an Italian glass artist (honorary Doctor of Fine Arts).

Distinguished Service Award: The university also presented Distinguished Service Awards to Tami Longaberger, chair of the board and CEO of The Longaberger Company and former chair of the university Board of Trustees; and William Lhota, president and CEO of the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).
