Undefeated! O-H!

November 24, 2012

Thanks, Buckeyes and Coach Meyer, for a 12-0 season!

The Buckeyes' undefeated season is a rarity: it's only the sixth time in Ohio State history the football team has been undefeated and untied. (The other teams: 1916, 1944, 1954, 1968, and 2002.)

It's a victory for the team, the university, and the state: Players were honored at the Statehouse, where they received a proclamation from Gov. John Kasich. (See photos from the Statehouse event). On Dec. 7, they will take part in a "Celebration of Perfection" (now sold out).

Kudos to the team:

Coach Urban Meyer: "At Ohio State, respect isn’t given, it’s earned. These players have earned your respect with resiliency and great character."

Etienne Sabino, senior captain: "We love the state of Ohio and we love Buckeye Nation."

President Gordon Gee: “Perfection was achieved this year by young men who have great character. This is a great moment for the university.”

Athletic Director Gene Smith: "We were fortunate to have Urban Meyer join us as our head football coach. He understands that it’s about developing the whole individual, not just the football player.”

Archie Griffin, former Buckeye football star and president of the Alumni Association: "Winning one game isn't easy. Winning 12 in a row is just about unheard of, and requires so much more than just being a good football team. This team was inspirational to our alumni and fans around the world." (More.)
