HONOR GRADUATES: As designated by their colleges, 19 will graduate
summa cum laude, 67 magna cum laude, and 101 cum laude.
PRESIDING OFFICER: President William E. Kirwan.
WELCOMING REMARKS: Richard A. Hollingsworth, associate vice president
for Student Affairs.
COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER: Kenneth Lee, professor and chair, Department
of Food Science and Technology, The Ohio State University.
HONORARY DEGREES: Honorary doctorates will be presented to John
N. Bahcall, one of the world's most influential astrophysicists and
a professor at Princeton University; Paul E. Bierley, an OSU alumnus
who is an historian, musician, scholar and aeronautical engineer; and
F. Albert Cotton, one of the worlds preeminent research chemists
from Texas A&M University.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD: The Distinguished Service Awards
will be presented to William E. Arthur and Floradelle A. Pfahl, close
friends of the university.
INVOCATION: Chaplain Anthony Sarris, University Hospitals Pastoral
Care.
NATIONAL ANTHEM and CARMEN OHIO: Marc Taylor, College of the Arts,
class of 2001.
