About Giving to Pelotonia

Do gifts to Pelotonia count for Ohio State’s Campus Campaign?

Yes, all gifts made by Ohio State employees in support of Pelotonia riders or general gifts made to Pelotonia between July 1, 2012 - April 29, 2013 count toward Campus Campaign participation totals calculated in May 2013. Pelotonia is part of The Ohio State University Foundation.

Can I use payroll deduction to make a gift to Pelotonia?

No, Ohio State employees cannot use payroll deduction to make a gift to Pelotonia due to the ‘pledge’ nature of such commitments. Should the employee cancel the deduction or leave the university, the unpaid portion of the pledge would affect rider support. All gifts to Pelotonia must be ‘real time’ transactions by check or credit card. Please go to pelotonia.org to make a gift.

I plan to ride in Pelotonia 2012. Does this count for Campus Campaign?

Any gifts you make to your own ride for Pelotonia count toward your Campus Campaign participation. If you make a gift to your own ride prior to June 30, 2012, you will be included in Campus Campaign 2012 totals. If you make a gift to your own ride on or after July 1, 2012, you will be counted in Campus Campaign totals in 2013. NOTE: The rider registration fee of $100 is not considered a gift and does not count toward campus campaign totals.

How do I make gifts to Pelotonia in support of colleagues who are riding?

Go to pelotonia.org and click on DONATE in the upper left section of the page. This will take you to a search page where you can enter the name of your colleague. Once found, follow the directions to make a secure credit card gift. Be sure to fill in the employer field so we know you work at Ohio State. NOTE: Pelotonia cannot accept cash gifts. Checks may be mailed to Pelotonia, 351 W. Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH, 43215. Be sure to indicate the name and number of the rider you are supporting on your check. Please do not mail cash.

My colleagues collected cash in support of my ride. How do I ensure they get credit for Campus Campaign?

Make a detailed list including each colleague’s full name, address, city, state, zip code, e-mail, and gift amount. Write a check for the total amount collected. Mail the list and check to Pelotonia, 351 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, OH, 43215. Pelotonia will add each colleague to your list of supporters on your Pelotonia page. If you do not include a list of donors, you will be credited with the gift. Please do not mail cash.

I rode in Pelotonia 2011. Why haven’t I received credit for Campus Campaign?

Did you make a gift to your own ride? Riders do not automatically get ‘credit’ for Campus Campaign. The only way to get credit for participating in Campus Campaign is to make your own gift to your own ride or to someone else’s ride before April 30, 2012. The rider registration fee of $100 does not count as a gift.

I signed up for Pelotonia but now I cannot ride. Do I still get credit for Campus Campaign?

If you make a gift to your ride after June 30, 2012, you will get credit for Campus Campaign 2013, regardless of whether or not you ride in the event in August.

I plan to volunteer this year/did volunteer last year for Pelotonia. Do I get credit for Campus Campaign?

We appreciate your participation; however, volunteering does not qualify for gift credit.

I think Pelotonia is a great event and I want to make a gift but I do not know anyone riding. What should I do?

You can make a general donation to the account of Team Buckeye, Ohio State's super-peloton which supports all Buckeye riders participating in Pelotonia. Go to pelotonia.org. Click SEARCH in the upper right corner of the home page. Type "Team Buckeye" into the search box to reach the online giving page for Team Buckeye. Click DONATE TO OUR PELOTON to make a credit card gift via the secure server.

I have questions not covered here. Who should I contact?

You may contact Karl Koon, Director of Development and Rider Recruitment, Pelotonia and Team Buckeye, at (614) 293-9523 or karl.koon@osumc.edu.
