The Ohio State University College of Medicine is fortunate to have hundreds of dedicated alumni who mentor and support students as they become OSU physicians. We have developed the White Coat Sponsorship Program to provide tangible evidence of our commitment and connection to our students from the very first day of medical school.
Initiated at Ohio State by Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and Chief Executive Officer of The Ohio State University Medical Center Steven G. Gabbe, MD, the White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage during which each student receives an individualized and embroidered lab coat signifying his or her personal entry into the profession of medicine.
The inaugural event was held on August 9, 2010, where 220 first year students each received a lab coat. We are excited to report that over $30,000 was raised in 2010 and over $37,000 was raised this past year. Representing integrity, compassion and trust, the white coat symbolizes our shared commitment to serve our patients. This wouldn’t have been possible without donors such as you.
