Frequently Asked Questions

What is The President's Club?

The President's Club was founded in 1963 to recognize individuals who provide the philanthropic support and volunteer leadership required for The Ohio State University to be one of the world's truly great universities.

Who is recognized by The President's Club?

The President's Club recognizes individuals who support academics, health sciences, and the arts at The Ohio State University with cumulative annual giving of at least $3,000 each calendar year.

How can I become part of The President's Club?

To become recognized by The President’s Club, you may make your qualifying gift online.

To make your gift by mail, please print and fill out The President's Club giving form and mail it with your gift for academics, health sciences, or the arts to:

The President’s Club
1480 West Lane Avenue
Columbus, Ohio 43221

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact the President’s Club Office at presidentsclub@osu.edu or call (614) 292-9550.

How will The President's Club help me stay connected to The Ohio State University?

In honor of their generous support of academics, health sciences, and the arts at The Ohio State University, President's Club donors currently enjoy these exclusive opportunities:

  • Invitations to campus and regional President's Club events
  • A monthly e-mail newsletter with campus news and special features
  • Opportunities for engagement with university leadership
  • Use of the university's nationally recognized library system
  • The opportunity to apply to purchase home season football tickets
  • The opportunity to purchase on-campus parking
  • Membership opportunities at the Faculty Club and the university's recreational sports facilities, and the opportunity to play courses at the OSU Golf Club. (Fees apply.)

How do I continue to be recognized by the President's Club?

President's Club recognition is the result of annual leadership gifts of $3,000 or more over the course of each calendar year to areas across the university representing academics, health sciences, and the arts. Contributions must meet or exceed this total by December 31 in order for President's Club recognition and benefits to continue in the subsequent calendar year. For example, donors who have contributed their minimum $3,000 (cumulative during 2014) by December 31, 2014, will continue to be recognized in 2015.

Do matching contributions from my employer count towards my recognition in the President's Club?

Matching gifts are eligible for President's Club recognition, provided that such recognition and benefits are not prohibited by your company's policies.

A matching gift will be added to the contribution total of the calendar year in which the matching gift funds are received by the university. Donors are responsible for following company policies and meeting deadlines associated with processing the matching gift. We recommend checking on the company’s distribution policy and making gifts as early in the year as possible to ensure the match is received in the same calendar year as your gift. If the matching gift is received after the December 31 deadline the matching gift will be credited in the year it was received which could affect the President’s Club recognition eligibility for the year the original gift was made.

Are gifts contributed from private foundations eligible for President's Club recognition?

The university accepts gifts from private foundations; however, these gifts generally are not eligible for President’s Club recognition based on IRS guidelines. These contributions will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine eligibility.

Are gifts contributed from donor advised funds eligible for President's Club recognition?

The sponsoring organization of a donor advised fund determines whether contributions from such funds are eligible for President’s Club recognition. If a sponsoring organization permits such recognition, the donor still is required to provide a personal contribution to cover the value of any accepted football tickets benefit, which is currently $300. Multiple donors may not receive recognition from the same donor advised fund (for example: if two siblings contribute to the university from a parent’s donor advised fund, only one sibling will receive President’s Club recognition). These contributions will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine eligibility.

Do gifts to the Buckeye Club or other funds in the Department of Athletics count toward my recognition in The President's Club?

Gifts to the Department of Athletics, such as those to the Buckeye Club, will not count toward recognition in the President's Club.

If you wish to participate in both the Buckeye Club and the President's Club, you may do so by making an annual qualifying President’s Club contribution in addition to your annual Buckeye Club gift.

CAN MY ORGANIZATION OR BUSINESS JOIN THE PRESIDENT'S CLUB?

No. The President's Club is a recognition society for individuals.

IS THERE LIFETIME RECOGNITION IN THE PRESIDENT'S CLUB?

In 2008, the President's Club was restructured and lifetime recognition for new donors was discontinued. All President's Club donors who had reached lifetime status prior to the 2008 change are recognized permanently as legacy donors of the President's Club. Legacy donors may also be recognized as annual donors in the President's Club if their cumulative annual giving is $3,000 or above.
