“Jeri and I consider it a tremendous honor to be involved with The Ohio State University,” said Robert Schottenstein. “In our view, Ohio State represents the most important institution in the state of Ohio. It’s an economic and intellectual engine, and has a great influence on the quality of life in Central Ohio.”

Jeri and Robert’s involvement has been extensive and has touched many areas of the university, including The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, the Department of Athletics, the Fisher College of Business, the Knowlton School of Architecture, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.

“We love the university and the values and the principles that it stands for,” said Robert. “If in some small way we can help the institution get better and stronger and do more, that’s where we want to help.”

Jeri has served as a member of the James Foundation Board since 1996 and was inducted into the James Leadership Society in 2007 in recognition of her longstanding commitment to and support of The James. In 1983, together with her family, Jeri founded the Herbert J. Block Memorial Golf Tournament in memory of her father. Over the years, the tournament has raised more than $4 million to aid cancer research, education, and prevention, and represents one of the main annual fundraisers benefiting The James. In 1992, Jeri led the effort to establish the Herbert and Maxine Block Lectureship Award in honor of her parents, which annually recognizes an individual whose contribution to cancer research, patient care, and education merits worldwide recognition. Jeri and her family have also established the Herbert J. Block Family Cancer Endowment Fund supporting research at The James. Robert has served as a member of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees since 2005 and is an original board member of Pelotonia. Over the years, he has also served on the Dean’s Advisory Council at the Fisher College of Business, as a board member of the Wexner Center for the Arts, and has been an energetic supporter of The James.

Jeri and Robert are also active in a number of business and charitable organizations in the community. Jeri currently serves as a trustee of The Ohio State University Hillel Wexner Jewish Student Center, as well as a member of the Women and Philanthropy Group of Central Ohio. Robert currently serves as a board member of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Columbus Partnership and serves on the policy advisory board of Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.

“Jeri and Bob are an incredible asset to Ohio State and to the community,” said Jeff Kaplan, president of The Ohio State University Foundation and senior vice president and special assistant to the president. “Ohio State has reaped innumerable benefits because of this powerful partnership, and we are thrilled to honor them in this way.”
