Reading Recovery is an award-winning intervention from the College of Education and Human Ecology that helps first-graders who struggle to read and write. At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, teachers in Reading Recovery boosted the reading skills of more than 11,650 first-grade students.

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine has educated 85% of Ohio’s veterinarians.
The Clinical Trials Office at the College of Veterinary Medicine is the largest and most comprehensive center for clinical trials on client-owned animals in the country. Clinical trials contribute to the advancement of veterinary medicine, can potentially improve a pet’s health with the newest treatments available, and may even lead to advances in human health. Ohio State has the only partnership in the nation between a veterinary clinical trials office and a comprehensive cancer center.

Ohio State's Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster is ranked number one in the nation among two-year institutions in the awarding of degrees in agriculture in Community College Week's 2012 Top 100 report. ATI is ranked in the category of agriculture, agricultural operations, and related sciences, which include horticulture and power equipment.
The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center received a 2012 Experiment Station Section Award of Excellence in Multistate Research for its work to rapidly address the threat of soybean rust to U.S. agricultural production. The annual award is given by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities in recognition of successful, well-coordinated, high-impact, multi-institution research efforts.

The 2012 U.S. News & World Report ranks the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy programs of Ohio State’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences among the top 20 programs in the nation. With more than 10,000 graduates, the school is one of the largest educators of health care professionals in the United States.

At the Ohio State vs. Illinois football game on November 3, 2012, the university achieved zero waste for a second time by diverting 98.2 percent of game-day materials from landfills: 6.5 tons recycled, 5.5 tons composted, and only 447 pounds sent to fill—a new record low for a game.
At the Ohio State vs. Purdue football game on October 20, 2012, Ohio Stadium became the largest stadium in the nation to achieve zero waste by diverting 94.4 percent of game-day materials from landfills: 6.4 tons recycled, 7.7 tons composted, and only 1,600 pounds sent to fill.

The Wexner Center is the only university institution to receive a nearly $800,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to embark on a four-year, multidisciplinary, and cross-campus project devoted to the arts and culture of Brazil, which will include an exhibition, a film project, symposia, residencies, and more.

The Board of Trustees unanimously voted in favor of the honorific naming of The Ohio State University Medical Center as the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University, honoring Les Wexner's three decades of visionary leadership and service to the university.
The Wexner Medical Center is ranked ninth in the nation for its quality of care by the University HealthSystem Consortium. The Wexner Medical Center is one of only five academic medical centers in the country recognized as a "Top Performer."
