Joshua Dressler
Joshua Dressler is The Frank R. Strong Chair in Law, in The Michael E. Moritz College of Law, at The Ohio State University. Prior to coming to Ohio State, Dressler held the first Distinguished Professor and Scholar Chair at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he was also honored with the University Eberhardt Teaching and Scholar Award. Earlier in his career, he received the Donald H. Gordon Teaching Excellence Award at Wayne State University. Because of national renown, he has been a Visiting Professor at some of the nation's leading law schools, including the University of Michigan, UCLA, and the University Iowa. He has also visited at the University of British Columbia, and Auckland University in New Zealand.
Dressler is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of criminal law and criminal procedure. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the four-volume Encyclopedia of Crime and Justice, the author of two treatises in his field, two casebooks used by law schools throughout the nation. In addition, he is the author of more than two dozen scholarly articles published in the United States and United Kingdom, many of which, including his University Distinguished Lecture, focus on moral and legal issues in the field of criminal law.
Dressler also serves as co-Managing Editor of the peer-evaluated Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law, and he serves on editorial boards of various other criminal law journals and law publishers.
