The Nancy Allietta Marzella and J. Nick Marzella Scholarship Recipient Colby Sherwood

"I am Colby Sherwood, a recent recipient of The Nancy Allietta Marzella and J. Nick Marzella Scholarship. I am from Shadyside, Ohio, and have lived here my whole life.

I chose The Ohio State University because I wanted a university with an excellent academic reputation in an urban environment. I plan on living in a large city once I graduate and Columbus, I feel, is a great first city to live in. Also, I appreciate the diversity that The Ohio State University has. Coming from a small town like Shadyside, I only meet people from similar backgrounds, and I feel like Ohio State has presented me with an excellent opportunity to meet new people.

At Ohio State, I wish to pursue a degree in some form of engineering. I am torn between computer science and environmental at the moment. With a computer science degree, I would love to program software and develop applications for computers. Hopefully, with this job I will be living in the Silicon Valley in California. With an environmental engineering degree, I would try to make renewable and green resources for power reliability and effectiveness. This degree, I feel, would let me make a major impact on society.
