Thanks to his scholarship, Julius adjust to freshman year

Julius DeCastro

"My time here at Ohio State has been very enjoyable thus far. Although the transition from high school to college was a bit challenging at first, I was able to adjust and adapt to the college environment. College is a lot more demanding than high school, but I think that it is worth it because college prepares us for a career.

Currently, I am involved in just a few clubs, like Pre-med club. I am hoping to be involved in more things next semester, but for now, I plan on setting a good foundation for my studies that will help me excel in the upcoming semesters. I plan to volunteer a lot, which I enjoy. My goal for after college include going to medical school to become a pediatric surgeon.

The Alter Excellence Scholarship has impacted me because the cost of education is expensive, and it allows me to save the money that I would have used for an undergraduate degree, and instead apply it toward medical school, which is even more expensive.

I think that individuals who prioritize making college affordable for students are amazing people. There are many kids who don't get to go to college because of financial reasons, but individuals who provide scholarships help students achieve their goals."
