New York Times reporters to speak on U.S. campaign against al-Qaeda – Feb. 7. New York Times reporters Eric Schmitt and Thomas Shanker will speak on their book Counterstrike: The Untold Story of America's Secret Campaign against Al Qaeda at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies, 1501 Neil Ave. The book tells the story of how a group of analysts in the military, spy agencies and law enforcement fashioned an innovative and effective new strategy to fight terrorism, unbeknownst to most Americans and in sharp contrast to the slogans that characterized the U.S. government's public posture. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month – Research shows 1 in 3 teen victims of dating violence with more than one abuser.
February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month and expert Amy Bonomi is available to discuss her recent research, which reveals that one in three victims of teen dating violence has had more than one abuser.
Bonomi, associate professor of human development and family science at The Ohio State University, is a nationally-recognized expert on teen dating violence, intimate partner violence and intimacy dynamics that keep such relationships intact.
The recent study she co-authored involved 271 college students who recalled dating violence, including physical, sexual and psychological abuse from ages 13 to 19. Nearly two-thirds of both men and women reported some type of abuse during their teenage years, just as reported in other studies, but the number of teen victims who had two or more abusive partners was surprising.
Read about the study. Schedule an interview with Bonomi by contacting Jeff Grabmeier at Grabmeier.email@example.com
