Veteran Fundraiser Hill-Callahan to Join Ohio State

Role will help drive donor relations and fundraising for Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center

Columbus, Ohio — The Ohio State University today announced that Patricia Hill-Callahan will join Ohio State as vice president for advancement for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and principal gift strategist for advancement across the university. Hill-Callahan will start June 17, 2013. She comes to Ohio State from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., where she currently serves as associate vice president for principal gifts.

Hill-Callahan will supervise a staff of 90 advancement professionals and report to Michael Eicher, Ohio State senior vice president for advancement and president of The Ohio State University Foundation.

“Patty has a refined perspective and seasoned approach to higher education fundraising with particular experience in medical fundraising,” Eicher said. “Her keen understanding of this specialized environment will help us strengthen relationships and enhance funding for the important activities that save lives and transform medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. We welcome her to the Columbus community.”

Since 2009, Hill-Callahan has served as Johns Hopkins’ associate vice president for principal gifts, managing a system responsible for 60 percent of that university’s campaign fundraising goal. Prior to returning to Johns Hopkins, she directed the $50 million annual fundraising effort at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass. Hill-Callahan honed her fundraising skills earlier in her career at Johns Hopkins, where she served as a director of the annual fund, a major gifts officer and director of development for Johns Hopkins’ Heart and Vascular Institute.

Hill-Callahan will provide overall leadership and delivery of advancement services for Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center, including its hospitals, clinical care sites and research institutes, and the College of Medicine, as well as for all of the university’s health sciences colleges.

Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center has been ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for 20 years in U.S.News & World Report.
