Ohio State University undergraduate appointed to Board of Trustees

Stacie Seger named to board for two-year term

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State University student Stacie Seger has been appointed by Governor Kasich as the undergraduate student member of the Board of Trustees for a two-year term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending May 13, 2015.

Seger is a junior from Fort Loramie, where her family operates a swine and grain farm. She is pursuing a degree in agricultural communication with minors in international studies and agribusiness and hopes to own a marketing and communication firm after graduation in 2015.

Robert H. Schottenstein, chair of the university’s Board of Trustees, says Seger is an important addition to the board. “The student perspective is invaluable to the work of the board. They are fully engaged in the life of the university and their views are appreciated and respected. We welcome Stacie to the board.”

Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee says, “Stacie Seger is a dedicated student ambassador and significant leader in student government with a strong affinity for international studies and the global experience. I wholly welcome the valuable perspective this future agricultural business leader will bring to the board.”

Seger has been involved in student government as well as advancement activities for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She has studied abroad in Brazil, Ireland and Ecuador and is currently an intern at the Ohio Ag Net and Ohio’s Country Journal.

She says she is humbled and honored to be appointed by Governor Kasich to serve on as undergraduate student trustee. “As the undergraduate student trustee, I look forward to working with the current board to continue to advance the work of the university. I will provide an on-campus, student perspective to board discussions and see that The Ohio State University continues to be one of the premier universities in the nation and the place for groundbreaking research.”

The Ohio State University Board of Trustees holds its next meeting June 5 - 7, 2013, at the Longaberger Alumni House.
