Ohio State extends freshman admissions deadline to Feb. 9

Weather-related school closings warrant extension

COLUMBUS The application deadline for high school seniors seeking admission to The Ohio State University Columbus campus for summer or autumn quarter 2004 has been extended because of recent weather-related school closings in the region. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than Monday (2/9) to be considered.

According to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience (UAFYE), a number of factors have affected the application process at Ohio State this year. Applicants were introduced to a revised admissions form that includes four short-answer questions and an earlier application deadline (Feb. 2) shortened the time available to respond to the more detailed application. Additionally, many who delayed applying until the deadline neared were caught off-guard in recent weeks when inclement weather across the Midwest and the East resulted in many school closings.

For more information, students, parents and school counselors can contact UAFYE at (614) 292-3980.
