12 Joyce and 15 Battelle Scholars head to Ohio State
COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University Honors & Scholars Center has awarded 12 Glenna Joyce Scholarships and 15 Battelle Scholarships to outstanding students from central Ohio who will enroll at Ohio State this fall.
Battelle Scholarships are awarded to students who excel in leadership and scholarship. The Battelle is a merit-based scholarship that provides full in-state tuition for four years.
Glenna Joyce Scholarships also are given to students who excel in scholarship and leadership. The Joyce is a merit- and need-based scholarship that provides full in-state tuition, room, board and a quarterly stipend for four years. To be eligible for the Joyce, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
High school seniors from Franklin County and contiguous counties are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
Battelle/Joyce applications for next year will be available in high school guidance offices beginning the week of Oct. 16. They also are available online at: http://www.honors-scholars.ohio-state.edu/battelle.htm

Grace Lee, a graduate of the Tree of Life High School, is the daughter of Samuel and Hannah Lee, 410 E. 12th Ave., Columbus (43201). Lee plans to major in biochemistry.
Megan McGough, a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, is the daughter of David and Mary Ann McGough, 2391 Winona Drive, Columbus (43235). McGough plans to major in psychology.
Patrick Reeder, a graduate of Fort Hayes Career Center, is the son of Christopher and Julie Reeder, 117 W. Kenworth Road, Columbus (43214). Reeder plans to major in mathematics.
Jennifer Seipel, a graduate of Hilliard Darby High School, is the daughter of Ann Nelson, 5426 Delano Court, Hilliard. Seipel plans to major in human ecology.
Gregory Sells Jr., a graduate of Lancaster High School, is the son of Gail Sells, 168 E. Fair Ave., Lancaster. Sells plans to major in aeronautical and astronautical engineering.
Tejas Shah, a graduate of Bishop Ready High School, is the son of Jitendra and Charu Shah, 1527 Dickson Drive, Columbus (43228). Shah plans to major in computer science.
BATTELLE SCHOLARS who provided information for release are:
Nadia Anguiano, a graduate of Westerville South High School, is the daughter of Fanny Cordova, 35 Summer St., Staten Island, N.Y.; and Jesus Anguiano, 111-A Cherrington Road, Westerville. Anguiano plans to major in computer engineering.
Tiffany Bunting, a graduate of Worthington Kilbourne High School, is the daughter of Rick and Judy Bunting, 8193 Linden Leaf Circle, Columbus (43235). Bunting plans to major in engineering.
Christine Cheah, a graduate of Pickerington High School, is the daughter of Ian and Grace Cheah, 12747 Wheaton Ave., Pickerington. Cheah plans to major in molecular genetics.
Cynthia Cryder, a graduate of Fairbanks High School, is the daughter of Dick and Meg Cryder, 11750 state Route 736, Marysville. Cryder plans to major in psychology.
Todd Donahue, a graduate of Canal Winchester High School, is the son of Steve and Meloni Donahue, 257 Old Coach Place, Canal Winchester. Donahue has not yet selected a major.
Bradley Griffith, a graduate of Dublin Scioto High School, is the son of Donn and Gayle Griffith, 6465 Martin Place, Dublin. Griffith plans to major in engineering and hopes to attend medical school.
Christopher Merkel, a graduate of Thomas Worthington High School, is the son of Monica and Richard Merkel, 7030 Rieber St., Worthington. Merkel plans to major in Japanese.
Amy Sparks, a graduate of Lancaster High School, is the daughter of Robert and Beth Sparks, 1159 Stone Run Court, Lancaster. Sparks plans to major in business.
Charles Wickerson, a graduate of Whetstone High School, is the son of Charles and Bonnie Wickerson, 571 Arden Road, Columbus (43214). Wickerson plans to major in physics and music.
