Parking Information for Football Game

COLUMBUS -- A completed bridge and a new parking lot should make things a little smoother for fans traveling to Ohio State football games this year.

"We have use of the King Avenue Bridge that was not open last year," said Beth Kelley, associate director of Transportation and Parking Services.

A new 2,000-car parking lot at Schottenstein Center, located off Ackerman Road and Fred Taylor Drive, is expected to be complete by the season opener Saturday (9/2). Parking there is open to the public and will cost $5, with Ohio State parking permits honored at no additional charge. Also, gravel added to the Polo Lot at 12th Avenue and Cannon Drive could be a big bonus this year during inclement weather, Kelley said.

"If there is rain, we can continue to park that area where we could not before when it was just grass," she said.

Her advice for fans driving to the game? "Come early and follow the officers' directions to available parking once you get onto campus."

West campus lots and shuttle buses

There is ample public parking on west campus. The lots are on Carmack Road, just west of Kenny Road and south of Lane Avenue. Free bus service from Mount Hall to the Sisson Hall footbridge begins three hours prior to kickoff and continues until one hour after the game.

Season permit parking holders

Most parking around the stadium and along Cannon Drive is reserved for football parking permits only. This includes the Northwest Garage and the new Tuttle Park Place garage, as well as lots around St. John Arena, the ice rink, and north of the Fisher College of Business. Season permit holders should follow the directions on the back of their permit to access their priority lot. Permit holders should clearly display their permits in the windshields of their cars to assist officers in directing them to the proper lots.

Disability parking

Parking for persons with disabilities is located in the Cunz Hall lot, located north of 12th Avenue, west of Neil Avenue. A state disability placard, OSU Disability parking pass, or Athletics Disability parking pass is required for entrance. Lift-equipped shuttles will carry fans to Gate 14 of the stadium. Shuttles begin three hours prior to kickoff and run continuously until one hour after the game.

One-way streets

At least two hours prior to game time - and sooner if traffic builds up - some streets on and around campus will become one-way, going toward the stadium. After the game, traffic patterns will be reversed, going one-way away from the stadium. Officers will direct drivers to available parking.

COTA

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) will again offer park- and-ride service from the fairgrounds and the Crosswoods area. The #2 bus brings fans to campus from the north and south on High Street.
