CAMPUS, STUDENT LEADERS JOIN POLICE TO PROMOTE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT SAFETY
Officials will remind residents to take precautions, responsibility
With the arrival of Autumn Quarter, thousands of Ohio State University students are settling into their off-campus apartments and houses. With all the excitement - starting new classes, greeting old friends and walking their dogs -students need to remember to take basic safety precautions. Of particular concern in the University District are the rash of set fires, rise in the number of burglaries and the abuse of the new off-campus emergency telephones.
Student leaders, university administrators, Community Crime Patrol staff and Columbus Police will hit the streets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday (9/21) for the "Walk Around the University District" to raise awareness of safety issues. Participants will distribute refrigerator magnets with key public safety phone numbers and flyers outlining precautions students should take if living off-campus.
