A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN AT OHIO STATE

Kirwan, Ray to announce university's first advisory council on women

From a freshman engineering major to Housing and Food Services' registered dietitian, women are an important part of The Ohio State University community. They hand-pick roommates for 8,500 students, drive buses, teach physics and serve as chief legal counsel for the university.

In celebration of these and many more accomplishments, women faculty, staff and students will gather together for the university's Annual Women's Reception, Wednesday (10/25), from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Younkin Success Center, 1640 Neil Ave.

Ohio State University President William E. Kirwan and Executive Vice President and Provost Edward J. Ray will announce the university's first President's Council on Women's Issues during the reception. Last year, the university created The Women's Place, an administrative office that works to implement a women led agenda on campus. Judy Fountain is director of The Women's Place. Also, the recently released Academic Plan outlines steps for increasing the number of tenured women faculty and full professors over the next several years, and Ohio State's Diversity Action Plan speaks to the importance of enhancing the climate for women on campus.
