Law School Panel will discuss legal ramifications of
2000 Presidential Election
The 2000 Presidential election will be the focus of a panel discussion at noon on Monday (11/13) in the College of Law at The Ohio State University. Four law professors will look at the legal ramifications of the outcome of voting on Nov. 7. The discussion will be held in the auditorium of John Deaver Drinko Hall (College of Law), 55 West 12th Avenue.
Alan C. Michaels will moderate the panel. Michaels is a former New York County District Attorney who teaches criminal law and legal writing and analysis. Other panelists include:
· Michael Les Benedict, professor of History who also teaches in the College of Law, who is an expert in the electoral college and 1876 election, the last time a U.S. presidential candidate was elected without the popular vote;
· Ruth Colker, a nationally recognized authority on constitutional and disability law, who will address the separation of power and the courts as it relates to the election process; and
· David A. Goldberger, an expert in constitutional law, who, as director of Clinical Programs, continues to litigate civil rights and civil liberties cases in the law school clinic.
