Marching Band practices for Inaugural Parade
The 225-member Ohio State University Marching Band is off to Washington, D.C. to march in the Inaugural Parade of George W. Bush on Saturday (1/20).
To prepare for the big event, the band will practice tonight, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. On Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 8 p.m., the band will practice its parade routine for the public as police close off part of Cannon Drive to traffic. The band will march south on Cannon from 12th to 9th Avenues, and play a short stand-up concert at Cannon and 9th.
The band performance will include "Beautiful Ohio," (which the band will play as it passes the reviewing stand), "Fight the Team," "I Wanna Go Back" and "Buckeye Battle Cry."
The band will travel to Washington by bus on Friday and return Sunday. The inaugural parade begins at the U. S. Capitol at 2:15 p.m. and traces a two-mile route to the White House. The Ohio State University Marching Band will march in the fifth and final parade division.
WHAT:The Marching Band will practice music and marching for Inaugural Parade.
WHEN:Wednesday (1/17), 7:30 to 8 p.m.
WHERE:: The band will march south on Cannon Drive from 12th Avenue to 9th Avenue and give a short stand-up concert upon reaching 9th Avenue.
WHY:This public band practice offers supporters a chance to see the band before it departs for Washington and the Inaugural Parade.
