Tuskegee president to give leadership lecture
Benjamin F. Payton, president of Tuskegee University, will discuss “The Leader Within You” at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, in 200 Campbell Hall, 1787 Neil Ave, on Ohio State’s campus. Campbell became president of the land-grant institution and historically black university in 1981. Recognized for his leadership and dedicated service to education, Payton was selected to give the first George Washington Carver Lecture in 1999 at the annual meeting of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.
Payton’s lecture is rescheduled from Oct. 26, 2000, when it was postponed because of illness.
Sponsored by the College of Human Ecology and the Office of Minority Affairs, Payton’s lecture marks the Fourth Annual Lena C. Bailey Lecture on Leadership. Bailey, a former dean of the College of Human Ecology, served Ohio State as an educator from 1961 to October 1996.
