Students to compete in University Maximus Scholar Competition
Top high school seniors vie for Ohio State scholarships

About 1,400 students from across the country will come to The Ohio State University campus to participate in this year’s University Maximus Scholar Competition, Feb. 16, 17, 23 and 24.

Students will be available for interviews each test day at 2:30 p.m. during a farewell reception at the University Honors & Scholars Center, 220 W. 12th Ave.

Students must have an ACT composite score of at least 29 or an SAT combined score of at least 1300, and be in the top 3 percent of their graduating class to compete for one of 10 Presidential Scholarships, 30 Medalist Scholarships and 80 Tradition Scholarships.

Students from Ohio and across the nation will complete an essay exam in the morning and learn about what Ohio State can offer in afternoon programs. While students take the test, their parents attend an information session focusing on Ohio State’s freshman experience, honors programs and financial aid. Students find out in the spring whether they have won a scholarship to attend Ohio State.

Presidential Scholars receive full in-state tuition, room and board, book allowances and miscellaneous expenses to attend Ohio State for four years. Medalist Scholars receive in-state tuition for four years and Tradition Scholars receive one-half in-state tuition.
