Ohio State provost, archivist to unveil the University Museum
Ohio Staters’ project documents student experience on campus
The University Museum, designed to document the Ohio State student experience with photographs and other memorabilia, will be unveiled to the university community at the Grand Opening Reception, 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, in University Hall, 230 N. Oval Mall.
Provost Ed Ray, University Archivist Raimund Goerler and Ohio Stater member Jason Cervenec will give opening remarks, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The University Museum will exhibit photographs and memorabilia from the 1900s to the 1940s. An ROTC uniform from the 1920s, a beanie that freshmen were once required to wear and a 1940s varsity-letter sweater are among the artifacts that will be displayed in the museum’s first exhibit.
The Ohio Staters Inc., a faculty, staff and student organization dedicated to campus and community service, have worked for five years to complete this project.
