Clive Edwards to give University Distinguished Lecture

Food, water, energy availability for human populations is topic

Clive A. Edwards, professor of entomology and environmental sciences at The Ohio State University, will talk about “The Future of Human Populations: Energy, Food and Water Availability in the 21st Century,” 4 p.m., Thursday (4/26), at the Wexner Center Film/Video Theater, 1871 N. High St.  This event is part of the University Distinguished Lecture Series.

 Initiated in 1996, the University Distinguished Lecture is one of the highest honors for a senior faculty member.  The lecture is awarded in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.  The Office of Academic Affairs will present an award of $5,000 to Edwards, which he has donated to support travel by graduate students in the Department of Entomology and the Environmental Sciences Program who present papers at national and international conferences.

Prior to his appointment as chair of the Department of Entomology in 1985, Edwards was a Senior Principal Scientific Officer from 1960 to 1985 at the Rothamsted Experimental Station in the United Kingdom. He also worked for the British Ministry of Agriculture for four years.
