Ohio State’s CABS to use modified route during Heritage Festival

Bus service redirected to avoid getting caught in ‘cruise’ route

The Ohio State University’s Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) has modified its Courtesy Shuttle route and the Buckeye Village route to avoid the “cruise” route during the weekend of the African American Heritage Festival, May 18 through 20. 

The “cruise” route, a phenomenon that coincides with the Heritage Festival, was rerouted around campus this year to minimize inconvenience to the neighborhoods. 

Beginning on Friday (5/18), a modified Courtesy Shuttle service from West Campus to Central campus will be provided from 8:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., or until the “cruising” ends. During this time period, all regular route service will be suspended, including North, East and South residential, Campus Loops, North Express, Core and Ag Express.

On Saturday (5/19), beginning mid-afternoon, the modified Courtesy Shuttle service will run until 3 a.m., or until the “cruise” route ends. All regular route services will be suspended during this time.      

            The modified Courtesy Shuttle route, which will connect West Campus to the residence halls, is as follows:  Carmack Road/Woody Hayes Drive to Herrick Drive; Herrick Drive to Cannon Drive; Cannon Drive to West 9^thAvenue; 9^th Avenue to Neil Avenue; Neil Avenue to 17^thAvenue (special stops will be provided along Neil Avenue at 11^th and 12^th avenues to accommodate the South Dorm students); 17^th Avenue to College Road; College Road to West 19^th Avenue  (special stops will be provided at College Road and West 19^th Avenue to accommodate the North Dorm students); West 19^th Avenue to Neil Avenue; Neil Avenue to West 9^th Avenue; West 9^th Avenue to Cannon Drive; Cannon Drive to Herrick Drive; Herrick Drive to Woody Hayes Drive /Carmack Road.

            The Buckeye Village route will travel on Woody Hayes to Herrick, and then will pick up at the modified Courtesy Shuttle route.

WHAT:            Ohio State’s Campus Area Bus Service is redirected during the weekend of the African American Heritage Festival.                    

WHEN:           8:30 p.m. to about 3 a.m. on Friday (5/18) and from mid-afternoon to about 3 a.m. on Saturday (5/19).                              

WHY:              To avoid the “cruise” route at the Heritage Festival.
