Ohio State welcomes students back to campus
Sunday is residence hall move-in day
COLUMBUS – Mindful of the tragic events that occurred this week, Ohio State University will welcome new and returning students when autumn quarter classes begin on Wednesday (9/19). Students will move into residence halls from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Other key events for media next week are the President’s Convocation ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. John Arena and a Candlelight Vigil on the Oval set for sundown Wednesday. During the vigil, the Ohio State community will have an opportunity to express their support for one another, support tolerance and acknowledge their grief.

SUNDAY (9/16)
· Residence Hall Move-In, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Welcome Center set up and staffed in the French Field House.MONDAY (9/17)
· Convocation 2001, 10:30 a.m. at St. John Arena. The university’s best prepared freshman class and transfer students will be welcomed by President Kirwan, learn some history and tradition of Ohio State, and learn the words to Carmen Ohio. Media check-in will be on the floor of the arena’s Lane Avenue side.WEDNESDAY (9/19)
· Classes Begin. · Candlelight Vigil, sundown, on the Oval. President Kirwan and other university leaders will speak. White ribbons will be given for a donation of any size to a relief fund for the victims of Tuesday’s tragedy. The ribbons will be available at student move-in on Sunday, at the Student involvement Fair on Monday on the Oval, and at the vigil information tents.###
