Ohio State hosts teach-in to discuss terrorist tragedy, aftermath
Distinguished panelists offer political, religious perspectives
COLUMBUS -- In response to last week's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington D.C., The Ohio State University will hold a teach-in for students, faculty, staff and the community to discuss issues associated with this attack on U.S. soil and its aftermath. The event, “When Terrorism Comes Home,” is set from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday (Sept. 20) in the Ohio Union East Ballroom, 1739 N. High St.
With opening remarks given by Provost Edward Ray, the event’s panelists are Donald Sylvan, professor of political science; Ahmad al-Akhras, president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Ohio; Rabbi Howard Apothekar of the Temple Beth Shalom; Linda Mercadante, professor in Ohio’s Methodist Theological School; and Nancy Rogers, dean of Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law. Professor Margaret Mills, chair of Ohio State’s Near East Languages and Cultures Department, will moderate the general session discussion, which is followed by breakout sessions.
This event is free and open to the public.
