University honors faculty doing great things

Kirwan to offer preview of Saturday’s recognition event

Columbus media will have the opportunity Thursday (10/4) to see a preview of Saturday’s Faculty Recognition Event that will be held during halftime of the football game with Northwestern. Showcasing faculty achievements is a critical element of the university’s new strategic communications program.

Thursday’s preview begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Faculty Club. Fourteen of the 26 faculty members who will be honored Saturday will be available for media interviews, as will Ohio State President William E. Kirwan, Provost Ed Ray and Vice President for Research Brad Moore. B-roll of several of the professors teaching in the classroom also will be available. Faculty attending include Lonnie Thompson, professor of geological sciences recently named by CNN/Time Magazine as one of the world’s top 100 scientists; Matthew Platz, Distinguished University professor of chemistry; Neeli Bendapudi, assistant professor of marketing and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Teaching; and Art Epstein, a Distinguished University Professor of Physics and Chemistry and Distinguished University Lecturer.
