Technology to enhance learning for students with disabilities

Expert to address challenges, benefits at free seminar

A leader in using new technologies to assist students with disabilities is the featured speaker at a technology seminar set for Wednesday (10/31) at Ohio State’s Younkin Success Center.

Sheryl Burgstahler, director of the University of Washington’s DO-IT program, (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology) will address specific challenges instructors face in enhancing their courses, ways to make course content accessible to all students and the benefits and challenges of distance education.

Burgstahler will give two presentations at the "Enhancing Instruction through Accessible Technology" seminar from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. She will discuss "Bridging the Digital Divide: Instructional Technology and Diversity," from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and "Distance Learning: Universal Access and Good Teaching," from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
