11-05-93 Rep. Schroeder to Speak Saturday MEDIA ADVISORY: REP. PATRICIA SCHROEDER TO SPEAK SATURDAY Rep. Patricia Schroeder, (D-Colo.), will deliver the keynote speech to the second annual "Ohio Women in the Legal Profession" conference on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Fawcett Center for Tomorrow, 2400 Olentangy River Road. Her address, titled "Congressional Issues Affecting Women in the Workplace," will start at 12:45 p.m. in the Fawcett Center Banquet Hall. Prior to her speech, from 11:30 a.m to noon, Schroeder will meet with reporters in Room 1 of the Fawcett Center. Reporters are also welcome to cover her speech. Schroeder has served as Democratic whip in the House of Representatives since 1978 and is a leader in Congress on women's and family issues. A recent Gallup poll rated her as one of the six most respected women in America. Schroeder represents the first congressional district of Colorado and is Congress' most senior woman member. At the forefront of the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, Schroeder has taken leadership on such issues as foreign and military policy, disarmament and arms control, educational opportunity, and civil and constitutional rights. Currently, she is working on issues including national health care, N.A.F.T.A., and the defense authorization bill.
