05-26-94 University Police arrest man in shooting 5-26-94 UNIVERSITY POLICE ARREST MAN IN CAMPUS SHOOTING COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University Police on Wednesday evening (5/25) arrested a Columbus man in connection with the shooting of three people at the African-American Heritage Festival early Saturday morning on the Columbus campus. The injured were treated and released at University Hospitals. University Police Chief Ronald A. Michalec prepared the following statement after the arrest: "On Wednesday (5/25) at 9:30 p.m., Vance Eric Lockett, age 25, of 2254 Gerbert Road, Columbus, Ohio, was arrested by members of The Ohio State University Police Department's Investigative Services Unit. "Based on witness statements and information received as a result of the investigation, warrants for Mr. Lockett's arrest were drawn for the following: "One (1) count of carrying a concealed weapon, a firearm (felony of the third degree). "Three (3) counts of felonious assault by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance (aggravated felonies of the second degree). "Mr. Lockett was booked/processed at The Ohio State University Police Department and transported to the Franklin County Jail. Mr. Lockett will be arraigned on all of the charges Thursday morning in the Franklin County Municipal Court.
