07-08-94 Ohio State names 11 to Mansfield campus board 7-8-94 OHIO STATE NAMES 11 TO MANSFIELD CAMPUS BOARD OF TRUSTEES COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State University Board of Trustees Friday (7/8) appointed 11 members to serve as the first board of trustees of the Mansfield regional campus. The board was established on June 3 to replace the Ohio State University-Mansfield Citizens Council. The trustees will advise the dean and director concerning local educational needs, participate in strategic planning for the campus and review campus operating and capital budgets. The board also will assume the roles of the Citizens Council members in developing support for the campus within the community and among government agencies. "These individuals are leaders in their communities and have outstanding records of service to the university," said Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee, who recommended their appointments. "They will provide a superb beginning for the new board." "I am pleased that Mansfield is the first regional campus in Ohio to have its own board of trustees," said John Riedl, dean and director. "The fact that such eminent community leaders are willing to give their time and energy to this campus is a very good sign for the future of higher education in this region." Appointed to three-year terms were: -- Jeffrey Molyet, attorney and past chairperson of the OSU-Mansfield Citizen Council. -- Lydia Reid, mayor of Mansfield. -- Paige Squires, human resource development manager of FSC Educational Inc. and secretary of the OSU-Mansfield Citizen Council. Appointed to two-year terms were: -- Evelyn McDonald, corporate officer of Midland Service Agency, president of the Galion Board of Education, member of the Pioneer Joint Vocational School Board of Education, and vice chairperson of the OSU-Mansfield Citizen Council. -- James Meyer, president of Mansfield General Hospital. -- Rush Stumbo, chairman of community service for General Motors Corp.'s Mansfield plant. Appointed to one-year terms were: -- Gary Feagin, agent for State Farm Insurance. -- Robert Houk, former public printer of the United States in the Bush Administration, and a past chairperson of the OSU-Mansfield Citizen Council. -- John Roby, president of Roby, Foster, Miller, Earick Inc. and Concerned Insurance Agents of Ohio and chairperson of the OSU-Mansfield Citizens Council. Also appointed were: -- Larry Douglas Stephens, a senior in the College of Business and the Mansfield campus representative to Undergraduate Student Government. He will serve a one-year term as a non-voting student member. -- James F. Patterson of Chesterland, owner of Patterson Fruit Farm.
