09-09-94 Pharmacy Exec to Teach PHARMACEUTICAL EXECUTIVE APPOINTED ADJUNCT PROFESSOR COLUMBUS -- David B. Sharrock, retired executive vice president of Marion Merrell Dow Inc., was recently appointed to an adjunct faculty position at The Ohio State University's College of Pharmacy. As an adjunct professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration, Sharrock will lecture graduate pharmacy students, consult with other faculty members, and complete other assignments for College of Pharmacy Dean John M. Cassady. Sharrock, a native of Ohio, earned his bachelor's degree in economics in 1958 from Dartmouth College. He joined Richardson- Merrell as a sales representative following graduation, then worked his way up steadily, becoming president and general manager of Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, U.S.A. in 1981 following the acquisition of the company by Dow Chemical. In 1987, Sharrock was named president of Merrell Dow's worldwide business. When Merrell Dow merged with Marion Laboratories in 1990, Sharrock became executive vice president of the new company. In January 1994, he retired as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Marion Merrell Dow. He remains a director and consultant to the company. Sharrock has been a director of The Ohio State University Foundation Board since 1985 and was a member of the National Campaign Committee for Ohio State's first universitywide campaign, which ran from 1985 to 1990. Currently, he is a director of Cincinnati Bell Inc., Unitog Co., Progenitor Inc., and Pharmaceutical Peptides Inc.
