10-19-94 Eisenhower Math/Science Open House NEWS ADVISORY: NEW RESOURCE AVAILABLE FOR MATH AND SCIENCE TEACHERS The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education at The Ohio State University will celebrate the start of its new national program -- an online information service designed specifically for K-12 teachers. The event, with demonstrations of the new computer-based service, will be held 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday (10/25) at 1929 Kenny Road. Science kits and other teaching aids collected by the center also will be displayed. University President E. Gordon Gee will visit the clearinghouse about 10:15 a.m. to take part in a demonstration of the new service. The focus of the event is the unveiling of the ENC Catalog of Curriculum Resources, a comprehensive, multimedia collection of instructional materials and programs from federal agencies and other sources intended to promote excellence in science and mathematics teaching and learning. The new catalog will permit teachers and educators to search through an electronic treasure-trove of materials available from federal agencies, commercial publishers, non-profit organizations and individual educators. Since the catalog is available through the Internet, teachers can dial in to its collection from their classrooms or homes, simplifying their efforts to improve their teaching. Reporters wishing to cover this event should contact Tom Gadsden at (614) 292-3330 or Peg Hanley at (614) 292-9984 at the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse. # [Submitted by: REIDV (reidv@ccgate.ucomm.ohio-state.edu) Wed, 19 Oct 1994 10:41:26 -0500 (EST)] All documents are the responsibility of their originator.
