10-20-94 Women in Law Conference NEWS ADVISORY: OHIO WOMEN IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION CONFERENCE The image of women in the legal profession will be the focus of the third annual "Ohio Women in the Legal Profession" conference on Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Fawcett Center for Tomorrow, 2400 Olentangy River Road. The one-and-a-half day professional development conference is designed for attorneys, the judiciary, and academe and will focus on the positive image of women in the profession. The keynote speaker is Lynn Hecht Schafran, director of the National Judicial Education Program to Promote Equality for Women and Men in the Courts. Her address, "Women and the Law: Are We Having Fun Yet?" will start Friday at 12 noon in the Fawcett Center Banquet Hall. The opening session, Friday at 10:15 a.m. in the Assembly Hall, looks at the "Status of Women in the Professions." The session features Kathleen B. Burke, immediate past president of the Ohio State Bar Association; Laurel Bellows, chair of the American Bar Association Commission on Women; and Claire V. Wolfe, M.D., president of the Ohio State Medical Association. Reporters are welcome to cover the opening session and the keynote address. Other highlights of the conference include sessions titled: "Trial Techniques: Opening Statements in a Gender Discrimination Case," "Women as Rainmakers," "Creating Gender Equity in Law Firms," and "Gender Bias: Recent Developments in Federal Employment Law."
