08-21-95 Nursing Faculty Participate in Health Fair OHIO STATE NURSING FACULTY TO PARTICIPATE IN HEALTH FAIR COLUMBUS -- Members of The Ohio State University College of Nursing faculty will be on hand to screen, check and counsel hundreds of parents and children at the third annual "Back to School Rally and Health Fair," Saturday, 8/26, at East High School, 1500 E. Broad St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rally will focus on ensuring a successful school year for both parents and children. "Anytime we are talking about children, we need to look at the whole spectrum, and health is a part of it," said Sylvia Reynolds-Blakely, instructor of clinical nursing and rally co-coordinator. "We value any opportunity to reach children." A number of agencies and organizations will offer screenings, information, free school supplies and immunization record reviews. The Ohio State University Medical Center Health Partners will check cholesterol and blood sugar levels, height and weight, nutrition, blood pressure and stress levels. The Ohio State Opthamology Clinic will offer eye exams and vision testing. The Ohio State Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic will offer hearing exams, and the Columbus Health Department will conduct oral health exams. Columbus Public School teachers will present several 20 minute sessions on time management for parents, information on the proficiency exams and how to have a successful academic school year.
